Mac at Home Upright Sofa Bed, Mahogany Brown

Comment: I bought it for my mom who likes firm mattresses. During her last visit, she complained about the $400 firm mattress from Costco but loved this one. Another reason I bought this was that Amazon provided free shipping.

Comment: I have owned this sofa for 6 months and am going tonight to buy a new different sofa. At first, the ability to convert it to a chaise or recline the back seemed great, and even though it was far less comfy than our previous couch, the convertible feature made it a fair compromise--or so we thought. What little padding there is soon flattens out, and, as another reviewer noted, the supporting bars are easily felt through the seat. After four months, the mechanism in the joint that holds the sofa in the chaise position failed. Now we just have a really uncomfortable sofa.

We are not hard on our furniture either. I am petite, we have only one small child, and we got rid of our previous couch after 7 years simply because of aesthetics. In short, it's well worth it to spend a little more on a better couch. We actually paid nearly $400 for this at a local retailer, so Amazon's price is not bad if you're looking for disposable furniture.

Comment: Although the sofa looks great, it's put together very cheaply. I had to return mine to Amazon because on the of the brackets on the frame was welded so far out of place that I could screw the leg in. The fabric is velcroed ... YES, VELCROED instead of sewn. And the lack of cushioning in the seat makes it feel like you are sitting directly on the metal frame. Extremely uncomfortable. But, Amazon was FANTASTIC when I called them to return.

Comment: We had been looking around for some time for a futon that was affordable and good looking. After around a month of failure, we decided to just buy it online and hope for the best....

The futon looks great, and the build quality of the mechanism feels very sturdy. however, this is where the positives end.

The support bars can be felt through the bottom of the futon while you have this in 'sofa mode' and you have to be careful where you sit to avoid a broken rear end. When in 'chaise lounge' mode, the bars are less obvious, but are still noticeable.

The futon is at it's most comfortable while opened out in 'bed mode', but I wouldn't recommend using this for any more than a few days.
